"Ruvini Aqua Plants Lanka" nursery is situated in a scenic location, 20 kms from
Colombo, Commercial Capitol of Sri Lanka.
The Company was incorporated in
1985 by Erwin J. Fernando who counts well over 35 years of experience in Ornamental Fish
Breeding & Propergation of Aquatic Plants for overseas markets. |

|
 |
In 1966 Erwin J. Fernando pioneered the "Mud Pond Culture" by floating Ruvini
Aqua Plants Lanka. This method is now used in the Freshwater Fish Breeding Industry.
The varieties of Freshwater Fish
that are being continuously bred at "Ruvini" range from the ever popular
"Platy" to the more rare exotic breeds of fish. |
|
At Ruvini Aqua Plants Lanka, the plants are carefully selected, potted and planted in
natural peat & rock wool, without polluting the environment. A cardinal feature
of this aquatic farm is that every single fish or plant that leaves the nursery is a
product of careful selection and choice.
|
"Ruvini" supply Fingerlings from their hatcheries to settlers at the Mahaweli
Scheme on buy back basis. The Mahaweli Scheme is the largest irrigation project in
operation in Sri Lanka.
A distinct feature of this
process is that no chemicals are being used at "Ruvini" at any stage of
breeding, growing, and harvesting. |
